Shopify SEO Agency

Shopify has specific constraints that generic SEO advice ignores. This is the work that actually applies to it.

Shopify makes some decisions for you, and most advice pretends otherwise

Shopify forces URL patterns you cannot change: /collections/, /products/, and the duplicate product URLs created when a product sits inside a collection. Generic SEO advice tells you to restructure your URLs, which on Shopify is simply not available.

The other recurring problem is apps. Every app adds scripts, most load on every page whether needed or not, and a store running fifteen apps is usually carrying several seconds of JavaScript it does not need. Speed work on Shopify is mostly app archaeology.

Shopify-specific work

01 Collection page optimisation Collections are the commercial pages on a Shopify store and are the ones with the best ranking chance. Most are an unedited product grid with a default title.
02 Duplicate product URL handling Shopify serves products at both /products/x and /collections/y/products/x. Canonical handling for this is built in but frequently broken by themes and apps.
03 App audit and speed Which apps are loading on which templates, what they cost in render time, and which can be removed or deferred. This is usually the biggest available speed win.
04 Theme-level technical Heading structure, image handling, schema output and internal linking, edited in Liquid rather than bolted on with another app.
05 Faceted filtering Shopify filtering and tag-based navigation create crawlable combinations. Deciding which are indexable is a decision, not a default.
06 Blog to collection linking Shopify blogs sit on a separate path and are often orphaned. Linking them into collections is where informational traffic starts producing revenue.

How an engagement runs

  1. 01 Store and theme audit Theme, apps, collection structure, index status. Delivered as a written document, not a tool export. Week 1
  2. 02 App and speed pass Remove or defer what is not earning its render cost. Usually the fastest visible improvement. Week 2-3
  3. 03 Collection build Collection pages given titles, content and internal links that justify ranking them. Week 3-6
  4. 04 Content and linking Buying guides published and linked into collections. Month 2+
  5. 05 Seasonal maintenance Ranges change and products retire. Redirects and collection updates are ongoing work on any active store. Ongoing

How Shopify work is priced

01 Catalogue and collection count How many collection pages need building properly.
02 App load A store with thirty apps takes longer to untangle than one with six.
03 Theme condition A well-built modern theme is quick to work in. A heavily customised old one is not.
04 Whether you have dev support We can work in Liquid directly, or hand specs to your developer.

Questions buyers actually ask

It is capable, with constraints. You cannot change the /collections/ and /products/ URL structure, and the platform creates duplicate product URLs by design. Both are manageable. The bigger practical limit is usually app-driven page weight.

Shopify serves a product at its own URL and again within any collection it belongs to. Shopify sets a canonical to the direct product URL by default, but themes and apps frequently break it, which is one of the first things worth checking.

Usually not. Most of what SEO apps do can be done in the theme, without the extra scripts. We would rather remove apps than add one.

Collections, first and mostly. They target the category-level searches with real commercial volume, whereas product pages compete for narrow branded terms often dominated by the manufacturer or a marketplace.

Substantially. Most apps inject scripts on every page regardless of where they are used. Auditing which apps load where, and deferring or removing the rest, is typically the largest speed gain available.

Yes, on a duplicated theme so nothing changes on the live store until you approve it. If you would rather your own developer implement, we supply the specs.
